BASEREC – Baltic SEa Region´s Communities

promoting and utilising the new EFC Programme for information transfer,
training, networking and know-how exchange

The BASEREC project is led by the Association of towns and municipalities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (DE), working together with Kommunförbundet Skåne (SE), Zwiazek Gmin Pomorskich (PL) and Fritid and Samfund (DK), all of which are municipal federations. The Association of towns and municipalities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a registered association, whose membership consists of 704 towns and communities across the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Its function is to pool and represent the interests of local authorities in the political sphere and to facilitate knowledge transfer to and between its members.

The Kommunförbundet Skåne is an amalgamation of 33 local authorities in the Skåne region of Sweden. It supports members to fulfil their duties and has had a cooperation agreement with the Association of towns and municipalities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since 1999. Związek Gmin Pomorskich is an association of rural and town municipalities in the Polish province of Pomerania. Fritid and Samfund is a union of local authorities from all over Denmark, which concentrates particularly on issues related to culture, recreation and social development.

The aim of the project is to make the “Europe for Citizens” programme known in the partner regions and to provide the respective member local authorities with support for the development of projects and with their application process. Furthermore this should result in the strengthening of networks in the southern part of the Baltic Sea region. For this purpose a study trip is planned in March 2015 for representatives from local authorities in Pomerania (PL) to visit Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (DE).

The BASEREC Project offers seminars to all interested parties, providing information about the programme with workshops focussing on the preparation of project proposals. In addition our flying project office provides practical on site advice. You can find more detailed information on the webpages in each of the partner country languages.
